St. Catharines is offering a Summer Company program run by the province with the help of the St. Catharines Enterprise Centre. The program allows for eight people aged 15-29 to receive funding and mentorship throughout the summer as they run their own business.
They receive a $1500 grant to start their business and meet every other week during the summer where they receive advice from small business owners, accountants, marketers, and other professionals. If they meet certain objectives along the way, then they have the opportunity to be eligible for a second $1500 grant.
There is also a similar program that has started in Niagara Falls for six young entrepreneurs.
