The Town of Fort Erie officially reopened Bay Beach, which is a popular tourist attraction, on May 26th. The $3.1 million project features accessible washrooms, a pavilion and festival square, a playground, picnic areas, and wheelchair accessible ramps to beach mats. It also includes protected sand dunes and a Fowlers toad habitat in a bid to protect natural ecosystems of the area.
This investment project was possible due to contributions from groups such as the Niagara Region and the Ridgeway Lions Club who donated $850,000 and $105,000 respectively. Bay Beach is a very popular tourist attraction for the town and it has been a very important revitalization project for the community.
