Niagara Region to consider making masks mandatory indoors where social distancing not possible

Niagara Region staff will get to work Monday crafting a motion that would make wearing masks mandatory at indoor locations where physical distancing isn’t possible.

Region Chairman Jim Bradley has opted to call a special meeting of regional council for Wednesday afternoon to consider the motion.

Councillors will use the special meeting to debate, amend and eventually vote on a bylaw — or defer the issue for more study.

St. Catharines Mayor Walter Sendzik said he supports the mandatory mask concept.
