COVID-19 tests in Niagara can now be booked online

Niagara’s hospital system has launched an online booking system for COVID-19 tests to make finding an appointment easier.

In a Wednesday news release, Niagara Health — it runs three COVID-19 assessment centres in the region — said the virtual booking system should make getting an appointment for a test faster.

“This platform makes the process of booking an appointment quicker for those meeting the provincial eligibility criteria for testing at a COVID-19 assessment centre,” said Derek McNally, executive vice-president clinical services and chief nursing executive.

The number of tests being done at the assessment centres has declined since the province put an end to walk-in appointments last month.

In September, the centres in St. Catharines, Niagara Falls and Welland processed more than 16,600 tests.
