The City of St. Catharines has announced that it plans to commit $10 million towards new facilities for the 2021 Canada Summer Games in Niagara. The plan includes building a new multi-use Canada Games Park that will be located at Brock University, and the Henley Rowing Centre which will be located at Port Dalhousie.

Canada Games Park will include two dual purpose pads for hockey and lacrosse, a quad gym for wrestling as well as other sports, both an indoor and outdoor track, beach volleyball courts, and a cycling facility. Henley Rowing Centre looks to build new accessible changing facilities, medical facilities, and training facilities.

The Canada Summer Games provide a wonderful opportunity to the region with the rise in sports tourism during the event, and the infrastructure investments that are being made all across Niagara. Once the games conclude, the facilities are expected to be run by a consortium with representation from the cities of St. Catharines and Thorold, as well as Brock University and the Niagara Region.

The games will take place from August 6-21st, 2021.
