A St. Catharines entrepreneur’s goal to becoming a $1 billion Indigenous beauty brand
The socially driven Cheekbone Beauty made a splash on CBC’s Dragon Den. Jenn Harper, a St. Catharines based entrepreneur, presented her case to the panel of Dragons with the hope of an investment opportunity in her cosmetics business.
Cheekbone Beauty is a growing cosmetics company with a socially driven agenda to promote Indigenous women, and to support Indigenous education with 10% of all profits donated to the First Nations Child & Family Caring Society.
While she did receive an offer on the show, Harper turned it down.
A sponsor of the show, the Desjardins Group, gave Harper $50,000 through its GoodSpark business investment program to help her create scholarships that will assist First Nations children. She also received $20,000 worth of banking services she can use for her company. And after the show had aired, Cheekbone Beauty secured a more lucrative investment via Raven Indigenous Capital Partners at $350,000.
