Matthew McGinty
Matthew is an experienced municipal professional with a strong background in community development, event management, and marketing. As Economic Development Officer for the Niagara Region, Matthew focuses on supporting initiatives in Thorold, Pelham, Wainfleet, and West Lincoln, with a strategic emphasis on the agriculture sector. He works closely with local businesses, stakeholders, and community leaders to foster sustainable economic growth across these communities.
Matthew's prior experience includes his role as Project Lead for Strategic Initiatives with the Corporation of Norfolk County, where he led key projects such as the Norfolk Community Development Awards, Norfolk Community Days, and a comprehensive review of the Norfolk Community Grants Program. He also played a significant role in the county’s "Amplify Norfolk" campaign, which earned the "Best Marketing Campaign" award from the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO).
Before transitioning to the municipal sector in 2021, Matthew spent 15 years in event management and marketing, overseeing over 500 charity events across Ontario in support of organizations such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Diabetes Canada, MS Society, and the Canadian Cancer Society. He holds a Diploma in Advertising and Communications Media from Mohawk College and looks to pursue his Economic Development (Ec.D.) certification. Matthew brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the region which further compliments the great work Niagara Economic Development is doing in the market.
