The trade corridor along Niagara and Hamilton – which includes roads, rail, air and water – is poised for national expansion, and which would have a strong economic impact on the region.
Currently the corridor supports 14% of total trade between Canada and the US, while the St. Lawrence Seaway system alone supports over $100 billion in international trade.
As part of this potential expansion, the Hamilton Port Authority looking to developing vacant land along the Welland Canal, allowing for better integrated transportation networks between the Hamilton port and Welland Canal, and improving future marine trade opportunities.
