A Brock University Life Writing course has developed a 3D space for students to discuss their assignments using virtual reality. This project has been done in conjunction with XpertVR, a company founded by two current students at the university, and will be offered during the winter term.

They have been able to get the resources needed to implement the project through Brock’s Chancellor’s Chair for Teaching Excellence award, which has provided annual funding of $5000 over three years. VR technology has become less expensive as it has developed in recent years, and has allowed for new opportunities that offer alternative resources to help students learn.

The pilot project is hopeful that it can inspire other faculties and disciplines to use this immersive experience in the future.
