From Syrian refugee to St. Catharines entrepreneur

Moutasem Alhariri immigrated to Niagara with his family in 2015 with $100 in his pocket. Since then, Alhariri has worked his way to opening his first restaurant, Taibah, in downtown St. Catharines in 2017, and opening a second location in 2019.

With support from the YMCA and Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre, Alhariri quickly made his way in the Niagara community.
