Niagara Falls city council has approved a $12.3 million investment for a cultural hub and farmers market to be built at Main and Ferry Street. It plans to have both an indoor and outdoor display area, a cafe and studio space, as well as areas for permanent and temporary art exhibits.
This is a long-standing project that has been on the table since 2013, but it has finally gained approval and will give opportunities to showcase local farmers and artists from all over the region.
The facilities will hope to become the leading example of innovative building in the area, as it will use a sawtooth styled roof to allow more light and more sustainable products for the structure.
Council unanimously approved the project, but are also looking at options to help ease the total cost.
