Growth for Niagara ‘the new normal’

Niagara is showing to have consistent growth in: the housing market, construction and various other industries. Figures showed Niagara’s growth rate soared by more than 300 per cent from 2011 to 2016. The statistics suggest Niagara’s economy is running on virtually all cylinders.

GE hires 10 for Welland facility

As work continues on on GE’s Welland Brilliant Factory, 10 of an expected 200 employees have been hired. The construction on the US $165-million facility is scheduled to be ready at the end of May 2018. The first group of employees will be very involved in selecting other employees that will work at the 45,000-square-metre facility under construction in Harry Diffin Industrial Park on the west side of Highway 140.

Major industry coming to Welland positively affecting Niagara

The City of Welland made a major announcement Wednesday morning that will greatly affect the entire Niagara Region.

GE (General Electric) Canada announced that it has selected Welland as the site for their new Multi-Modal "Brilliant Factory."

In a press release M.P. Niagara Centre Vance Badaway said, "With GE Power’s new “Brilliant Factory” our community will see 150 direct new good-paying jobs be created in phase 1 within the Niagara Region to strengthen the middle class and help those working hard to join it.”

Government of Canada designates Niagara Foreign Trade Zone Point
The government of Canada has announced the designation of the Niagara Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) Point, serving the region's 12 municipalities from east of Hamilton to the United States border.
